Fun Life ! ! !

Many a times, we have heard that student life is the best of all... and accepting that fact I would like to share some of my experiences here. I came to this place on 27th August' 05 and since then this has become my world... a mini world !!!

First few days were like hell here... seeing people from all over the nation, having different cultures and all of them striving hard to cope with the system. The fear of being ragged was also in height (thank God... I never faced this). I still remember how my batchmates were called by the seniors according to the color of their dresses. Me and Reshma were lucky in this matter for not being called. Shatavisha was the greatest victim of this. Slowly the days passed on... and we started knowing each other and soon all were found in various groups.

We were quite serious in attending classes and also immitating others. Soon songs were formed relating various faculties and students. It is my pleasure to say that Shatavisha and Annie were the pioneers in this and rest all took the role of either supporters or audience. It is so funny to remember even today. Now we can understand why our seniors were surprised to see us studying like anything in the 1st year, particularly the 1st sem. This tradition keeps on going...

We used to have 100% attendance and bunking classes was like a celebration time for us. Ofcourse this has been quite common now a days. Before studies were regular but they have become optional now. The most funny time we have had was during our study hours. After the days work, we would simply lie down with a book in hand and looking at the doors with of the hope of expecting the faculty on duty. Sometimes we would be caught red handed of not studying in the study hour !!!

Even more funnier were the class hours... especially the time when we were bored of the regular classes. We would rely mainly on chocolates and amul packets. Eating those stealthily and also sharing them among friends added charm to this act of ours. Lab classes and vivas are still a memorable moment for us... Me and Reshma !!! We would do nothing in our workshop labs... but would always get the full marks. Boys were always there to help us. Not only workshops, Engineering Drawing classes... disturbances caused by us... counts in the list of our naughtiest deeds. We used to have only one set of instruments and nearly four persons would be using those. Copying the drawings... fighting for instruments were some of the main features of our ED classes. Forgetting not... our English labs, we really had a great time there. The boring and sleepy classes... aah just can't forget how the days used to be. While coming back from class, especially the lab classes... we would pick the raw mangoes from the trees all our way and too without anyone's notice. Eating those with salt and chilli powder was not less than a marvellous treat. It has its own charm !!!

Outing in groups... for picnics, for lunch, to celebrate birthdays, to avoid boredom... etc are quite common here. They add flavor to the lifestyle here and help in bringing some change in our tedious system. Celebration of festivals also form an integral part of our life. Diwali's light enriches our lives and make it more brighter and holi always ends up with flying colors. Birthday celebrations, valentine's day, friendship days made us feel the true sense of "Masti ki Pathsala" !!!

Being away from home was like a punishment. We had a countdown where we used to count how many days were left for us to go back home. According to the rule, it had to be counted from 12 o'clock in the midnight. Initially we did it at 12... then at 11:50 and finally it was done at 11:30 itself. When the most awaited day would come, all of us would be in a different mood... mood of not going away from each other !!!

Let it be studies or entertainment, fun was mandatory.Reading aloud so that all would listen, group studies, late night preparations, sharing of the same book according to the scheduled time... are some features of a hostel before exams. Moreover, searching for food items when hungry especially in the night. Then "Maggi" would come for aid. Preparation of Maggi using a small immersion heater is another big time experiment in the hostel life.

Not only Maggi... all that we do are in itself significant. Applying Mehndi in palms... preparing for photo sessions... going out for lunch or picnic... all are memorable in their own way. The memories of Gotta barage are still afresh in my mind... where all of us went. Had a great time there... the snaps still make us laugh. Then watching movies, playing games... antakshari or word game, mock interviews, quiz sessions are some more events adding colors to our life here.

Not only fun... we have learnt how to be independent, self reliable as here we are our own boss... we have to take care of everything that is ours. Let it be washing clothes or getting it ironed, keeping things in order or cleaning the room, taking care of all valuables including money or buying essential items... we have to do all those of our own. Apart from this, helping others, taking their care are also included as a part of our social and moral responsibility. In short, one can have the real taste of life here. So why should not one say that this is the golden era in one's life ???

A true friend always thinks of you, when all others are thinking of themselves !!!
